The Lowest
Pictured above Clockwise L - R
I re-watched Sideways recently and absolutely loved it. I think the first time I watched it was as a pretentious teenager that was still tempering her art house weekly rentals from Video Ezy with a side of Pocahontas. Needless to say it fared better the second time around. I have been too sick to read this piece on the Alexander Payne and Paul Giamatti reunnion for The Holdovers (a movie I also really liked and was genuinely surprised by) so I am putting it here to remind me to read it later.
Finished ‘You Belong with Me’ by Mhairi McFarlane and it was another classic. I think she might be the only author in the rom com game that understands that we don’t need books that finish with a wedding and a HEA, especially if you are going to give us sequels later on (this is the book after ‘Whos that Girl’). I do think of the romance readers out there you can either be the kind of likes sweet little cartoon covers, or big cursive letters over a suggestive image and I am definitely in the former category. I’m here for the observational humour, the hot sex is but a secondary bonus.
Call my Gen Z cusp, because I too feel seen and emotionally supported by the Billy Joel song ‘Vienna’.
I am in desperate need of some workspace storage and have my eye on this IKEA set of drawers that feel like they give ‘artist in studio’. But is the blue-grey too millennial? I can’t handle the fake ply and the white just seems so IKEA.
Most Awful
Still too sick for original thought. We try again tomorrow.
Before the guilt devours me whole.
The lowest most awful is a daily diary to keep the self-doubt at bay. Join in if you’d like but not one bit of pressure from me to do so.
